Our drifting awareness, our tendency to take the path of least resistance by being less than fully awake to the present moment, creates a void. -Russell E DiCarlo
As I read these words by Russell E Dicarlo in the foreword of the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, I can’t help but notice how true these words of wisdom ring true in my own life.
For far too long, starting at an age I was too young to remember, my awareness has been tossed from the TV screen to fast food, video games, and then junk foods and different versions of each.
Connected to the noise, anything to avoid the reality of the struggle.
And all that mindless activity created a void—a giant unfulfillable whole of nothingness lingering in my awareness.
Yet, in time, as I began to Be Still and Be Present in my meditation practice. I’ve found the strength to listen to the silence beyond the noise. And see beyond the illusions of the void.
Right here, right now. I am at peace just as I AM.
